Technical Services Representative
Travel Required - Based in Madison, WI
Do you enjoy hands-on, technical work in the field? SGTS Inc. is seeking a Field Service Technician to install, maintain, and troubleshoot security, access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection systems at client locations. In this role, you'll work with cutting-edge security technology, traveling to client sites to perform system installations, preventative maintenance, and emergency repairs. WHAT YOU’LL DO

Install & Maintain Security Systems – Work on detention-grade locks, intercoms, CCTV, and access control systems at client sites.

Low Voltage Wiring & System Configuration – Install cabling, perform troubleshooting, and configure electro-mechanical security systems.

On-Site Technical Support – Work directly with clients, ensuring systems are fully operational and optimized.

Travel to Client Sites – 50% overnight travel expected, typically 2-3 consecutive nights per week (home most weekends, occasional 4-day workweeks).

Emergency On-Call Support – Serve periodic week-long on-call rotations for emergency service requests.

Report & Document Work – Complete service reports and document system issues and solutions.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Required Skills & Experience

Hands-On Mechanical & Technical Aptitude – Strong troubleshooting skills with mechanical, electrical, and low voltage systems.

Physical Ability – Comfortable climbing ladders, working at heights, and lifting objects over 50 lbs.

Self-Motivated & Organized – Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in the field.

Ability to Work on Team – Strong interpersonal skills need to be demonstrated with internal and external partners

Travel Availability – Willing to travel overnight 50% of the time and work occasional 4-day weeks (10-hour shifts).

Security Clearance – Must pass government background checks as required by our clients.

Valid Driver’s License – Must have a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications

Electronics & Low Voltage Experience – Background in circuits, relays, and low voltage security systems.

PLC & HMI Programming Interest – Aptitude for programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and human-machine interfaces (HMIs).

Technical Software Skills – Familiarity with Microsoft Office, security software, and remote diagnostic tools.

Education or Equivalent Experience – Associate’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience in a related field.
